Gaming laptops may not be making so much buzz in media and market like the gaming or mobile phones but it doesn’t mean that companies are not working on gaming laptops; in fact, now laptop manufacturers are working on gaming laptops more than ever.

Laptop manufacturer like Asus, Lenovo, and Acer are working on gaming laptops very aggressively, these companies are having their dedicated series or I should say a brand for a gaming laptop. “ROG” series is the premium gaming laptop brand by Asus, Lenovo calls its gaming laptop lineup “Legion” and Acer has “Predator” series of laptop for gaming.

In this post, I am going to share the quick review of an entry-level gaming laptop by Asus and it is the Asus F570ZD-DM226T (F570Z). Asus F570Z is a gaming laptop for entry-level gamers who are looking for a gaming laptop with not very expensive price tags. Asus F570Z is powered by Ryzen 5 2500U Quad-Core processor by AMD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 4GB GDDR5 VRAM and integrated AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics and 8GB of DDR4 RAM.

Design and Display of Asus F570Z (F570ZD-DM226T):

In general, there is a perception that the gaming laptops would be a very heavy and bulky machine but not this one. The one we got for the review is Asus F570ZD-DM226T (F570Z Model) and considering the fact that its target userbase is entry level gamers, it is very lightweight. As you may see in the key specifications section the weight of Asus F570ZD only 1.96 kg which makes this a very portable gaming laptop. The uses of the plastic body could be one of the reasons behind the lightweight of Asus F570Z (F570ZD-DM226T).

Not only the lightweight which making this a portable gaming laptop but also its dimensions. Asus F570Z is also thinner than most of the gaming laptops, at first sight, you won’t even think that this could be a gaming laptop. There is a Cyan color outline around the lid and the trackpad, giving the laptop kind of a unique look.

It may feel weak and poor build when you hold it with the display portion or upper portion of the laptop, so I can not say that it is a solid build laptop, the company has failed to build an impression that the system is strong and rugged, you can easily find out that they have used a plastic body as soon you touches the Asus F570Z laptop.

SonicMaster technology equipped speaker grille is above the keyboard but the sound output from its speaker of the laptop is below average, you may need to have either a good external speaker or a good headphone to truly enjoy the music or sound while using this system to play games or watch movies.

It has two USB 2.0 Type A ports, a USB 3.0 Type A port, a USB 3.1 Gen1 Type C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, an Ethernet port, an HDMI 1.4 port, a microSD card reader, and a DC jack. At the bottom, it has rubber uplifters at all four ends, which help towards cooling the body and stick on the desk.

Asus F570Z comes with the 15.6 inches Full HD display with a resolution of 1920×1080. A good display is very important for any laptop whether it’s a gaming or any other entry-level to premium laptops. The display of F570Z is good and you will find it satisfactory with all kind of uses either watching movies, browsing the internet or playing games. You may easily find laptops with a better display and even higher resolution but I don’t have any complaint considering the price tag of Asus F570Z.

Cutting down bezels is the new trend but not for Asus F570Z, it has thick bezels all around the display which looks not a very new system design at all.

Thanks to its bigger body size, the laptop has a full-sized keyboard with backlit and 1.4mm of key travel to provide a reassuringly solid feel and a comfortable typing experience, even after hours of use.

Software and Performance – Asus F570Z:

The Asus F570ZD-DM226T (F570Z) runs the Windows 10 Home (64-bit) out of the box. Windows 10 operating system is well known for providing a better gaming experience than its all other previous versions of the operating systems. No matter what’s your need, you may find Windows 10 OS more capable and stronger than any other operating systems.

Asus is providing an interesting app with this system which is called ASUS Hello, using this application you can register accounts of ASUS members, Dropbox, and McAfee, without doing this separately for each account.

As you have read in the above section, Asus has packed the AMD’s Ryzen 5 2500U processor clocked at 2.0 GHz (up to 3.6 GHz), 8GB of DDR4 2400MHz SDRAM memory which can be extended up to 32 GB using the 2 x SO-DIMM socket. The Asus F570Z also comes has the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 with 4GB GDDR5 VRAM and integrated AMD Radeon Vega 8 Graphics; there is no SSD but you will get 1 TB HDD or mechanical hard drive to store your data.

Overall hardware and software performance of the machine is good; If you remember the fact that this is just an entry-level gaming laptop and its price then you will find this system fully satisfying but if you are looking for the top-notch seamless performances for all type of games including the resource hunger games then this is definitely not the system you should look for and in that case you should go for the ASUS ROG Zephyrus series laptops recently launched by the company or “Legion” and “Predator” series by the Lenovo and Acer respectively.

When you are talking about gaming laptops then you shouldn’t think much about the battery life, because expecting a good battery life from a gaming system would be pretty unfair. Moreover, it does not matter what system you using, you gonna get the better performances while your system is connected to the power source instead of on-battery. Still, during the review I have got around 3 hours of battery backup while using it on battery for the general browsing, watching some videos playing song and other regular uses.

Verdict:

You will barely find any gaming laptops at this price range, any good gaming laptop will cost you minimum 80-90,000+ INR; so this is a positive point for this laptop because there isn’t a huge competition in its price segment. You can consider buying Asus F570ZD-DM226T (F570Z) if you are looking for a gaming laptop around 50k with a good display, performance, and easy to carry or portable.

Pros:

  • Lightweight
  • Metallic finish design
  • Backlit keyboard
  • Full HD 15.6 inches display
  • Good hardware resources considering the price range
  • Windows 10
  • RAM expandable up to 32 GB

Cons:

  • Poor Speaker
  • Plastic body
  • Not very solid/strong build
  • Sharp edges
  • Thick Bezels
  • No SSD
  • No Type-C Charging
